 Tenure Track/Tenured Faculty Position

The Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences anticipates a faculty position, rank open, in the Center for Atmosphere Ocean Science (http://caos.cims.nyu.edu).  The appointment is to begin September 2008, pending budgetary and administrative approval. Applicants should have outstanding research accomplishments, diverse research interests, and mathematical expertise in fundamental areas of atmospheric and/or oceanic science. An interest in and ability to work closely with applied mathematicians is crucial. Possible research areas include atmosphere-ocean coupling, mid-latitude dynamics, theoretical glaciology, stochastic parameterization, and climate variability, but all exceptional applicants will be considered.  Applications, consisting of a CV, a one-page research statement, and the names of three references, must be submitted by December 1, 2007 to Ms. Mariko Kato, Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University, 251 Mercer Street, New York, NY 10012.
