Synopsis:
How does the global temperature evolve after emissions cease? Climate models provide a wide range of answers to this question, sowing uncertainty. Here we aim to bring the post-emissions response into sharper focus using a hierarchy of models. By combining idealized theory, simple climate emulators, and comprehensive simulations, we make a robust case for multi-century cooling after net-zero, allowing for more confident reasoning about temperature stabilization beyond the 21st century.
