Atmosphere Ocean Science Friday Seminar

Investigating Upward Transport Across Scales

Speaker: Tea Susskind

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1314

Date: Friday, May 2, 2025, 4 p.m.

Synopsis:

From individual clouds to large-scale cycles like the Hadley circulation, motions at all scales are responsible for moving matter and energy upward through the atmosphere. What quantities can we use to discover how these circulations operate and what they transport? How can we use recently developed “cloud-resolving models” to investigate this transport in the atmosphere? I will introduce this interesting class of models and share some preliminary results this afternoon.
